We have an exciting opportunity for a full time Traffic Technician. This is technical, field and project coordination work of moderate complexity performed in the Engineering Department.
A little bit about you:
You will have knowledge of the practices, techniques, methods and equipment used in traffic engineering operations and knowledge of traffic/transportation engineering design principles and practices. And Working knowledge of the components of traffic signal systems as related to the work performed.
You will have completed a certificate program in civil technology including courses related to traffic/transportation engineering, and/or have considerable related experience.
Diploma in Civil/Transportation Engineering. ,Experience with Traffic Counts, Traffic Data Collection, Traffic Modeling Software & Warrants Analysis would be an asset.
Your key responsibilities are:
You will participate in the development and implementation of larger traffic management/transportation projects. You will work with superiors and representatives of associated external agencies in the development of project scope and objectives for a variety of improvement projects and serves as a project coordinator during the implementation phase. You will possess excellent communication skills as this position liaises with external agencies on the development of shared traffic improvement projects. You will be investigating traffic problems and complaints and preparing preliminary designs for new/ modified traffic signal systems and other transportation related infrastructure projects.
The successful candidate will be required to complete a Police Information Check as a condition of employment. (Note – not required a part of the application process; however, will be required upon consideration for employment)
