The City of Coquitlam is currently seeking enthusiastic applicants to join our casual Ice Skate Instructor team. The successful candidates will have excellent communication and people skills; be a team players; have the ability to lead, participate and instruct skating program participants; maintain an effective working relationship with program participants, volunteers, staff and the general public; plan creative lesson plans for a variety of skating levels using progressions and complete report cards.
 
Requirements:
Candidates are required to be able available to work the following days:

September - December
  • Monday and Wednesdays between 4- 7:30 p.m. and/or
  • Tuesdays between 9:30 a.m. and 12p.m. and/or
  • Thursdays between 9:30 a.m. and 12p.m and/or
  • Fridays between 11a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and/or
  • Saturdays between 2:30 – 4:45 p.m. and/or
  • Sundays between 9 – 1p.m.

January - March
  • Monday and Wednesdays between 4- 7:30 p.m. and/or
  • Tuesdays between 9:30 a.m. and 12p.m. and/or
  • Thursdays between 9:30 a.m. and 12p.m and/or
  • Fridays between 11a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and/or
  • Saturdays between 2:30 – 4:45 p.m. and/or
  • Sundays between 9 – 1p.m.
 
Basic Qualifications:
  • Current Emergency First Aid and CPR ‘C’ certification
  • At least 16 years old
  • Strong skating background
  • Experience working with children is an asset
 
Additional Qualifications considered an asset:
  • High Five Certifications
  • Recreation Instructor Skating Course
  • NCCP Certifications
  • Ball Hockey or Lacrosse Background
 
The rate of pay for this position varies, depending on experience/specialty. The range of pay is $16.00 to $20.00 per hour plus 4% in lieu of benefits.
