The City of St. Albert’s Engineering Department is seeking to hire a Capital Projects Manager to manage the Capital Projects Office (CPO) and corresponding capital projects program. The primary focus is to successfully deliver projects, which can vary from new construction and major rehabilitation of the City's roadways, to utilities, buildings and recreation parks and facilities, through all five phases of the project life cycle (initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control and close-out). 
Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Manager, as the designated corporate project management expert, will provide project management advice to Senior Leadership Team and Council. The position develops and maintains project management policies, procedures and tools. The Manager will also prepare city council reports, Requests for Proposals, tenders, pre-qualifications, and associated contract documents. The Manager is the liaison between all City departments and Senior Leadership Team with respect to the City’s entire Capital Program including those projects managed outside of the CPO.
The Manager will support the Director of EnQUALIFICATIONS
  • 10 years progressive experience, including a minimum of 3 years of experience managing and leading a Capital Project Office.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
Construction Engineering Technology Diploma (or a directly related program) may be considered in combination with more than the required years of experience.
  • Professional designations/memberships with APEGA, ASET and/or the Project Management Institute.
  • Significant knowledge of civil and municipal engineering works in a structured project management environment and the ability to utilize accepted and current project management doctrine (PMI) in a practical and dynamic public sector municipal setting.
  • Excellent computer proficiency in terms of Microsoft Office suite, automated project management and estimating tools
  • Valid Class 5 drivers license and a vehicle.
We offer a compressed work schedule of 72 hours bi-weekly (Monday - Friday, 8:00 – 5:00 with a regular day off every two weeks).
Please note the incumbent must be able to work extended hours to meet deadlines and urgent requirements, especially during construction season. 
$108,091 -$131,509 per annum. In addition, the City of St. Albert offers a generous and comprehensive flexible benefit package.
