Job Description: 
Reporting to the Manager of Infrastructure, the role of Project Manager will coordinate Municipal utility infrastructure projects, both acting as the Town’s representative on major projects, as well as leading smaller projects identified for implementation.  This position works closely with the Town staff and Consulting Engineers, as well as Construction Contractors. 

The ideal candidate is an individual who has the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, effectively communicate with employees, administration, and members of the construction industry, professionals and the public. A professional attitude and appearance are required to represent the interests of the Municipality. The successful candidate will also have superior planning, scheduling and coordination skills and the ability to effectively solve issues quickly and effectively.  Experience working in a political environment will be considered an asset.

Duties will include but are not limited to:
  • Prepare RFP’s and RFQ’s for procurement of services and goods for multiple departments;
  • Collect quotes for various goods and services required by multiple departments;
  • Assist in the review of bid proposals and make recommendation on the award of bids;
  • Participate in design, pre-bid, site review and preconstruction meetings;
  • Review construction inspector notes, make field visits during construction phase, interface with contractor around project schedule and interpret project documents, codes and construction standards;
  • Coordinate construction/project activities with Town Departments and other contractors;
  • Monitor project schedule and prepare periodic reports for Manager of Infrastructure;
  • Prepare correspondence and reports detailing status of design or construction projects planned or underway;
  • Work closely with Consulting Engineers and Contractors on Operating and Capital projects;
  • Perform Construction Completion and Final Acceptance inspections for new Underground infrastructure;
  • Assist with project planning and budgeting activities;
  • Review, circulate and respond to request for shallow utility installations within a Town utility right of way or road right of way (Atco Gas, Fortis, Ember, etc.)

Education: The preferred candidate will have a minimum of E.I.T. and or C.E.T. with PMP Designation. 
Preferred Qualifications:  5 years of experience in Municipal Civil works Civil Project Coordination and/or Project Management experience would be considered an asset.  Project Management Professional Certification (PMP-PMI)  would be considered an asset.
