Lions Bay Fire Rescue Trainer

Lions Bay is a small seaside Village nestled at the base of southern British Columbia's Coast Mountain Range. Located on the Sea to Sky Highway between West Vancouver and Squamish, Lions Bay forms part of the Metro Vancouver Regional District. This residential community of 1334 (2016 census) is one of the smallest self-governing municipalities in BC.

The Lions Bay Fire Rescue Department (LBFR) is a dedicated volunteer fire department serving the needs of the immediate community with respect to fire suppression services and medical assistance, and the larger community in respect of first responder and vehicle incidents on Highway 99 between West Vancouver and Britannia Beach.

LBFR is a paid on-call fire department located approximately 12 kilometres north of Horseshoe Bay on the Sea to Sky Highway (Hwy 99) operating with 1 fire hall, 3 emergency apparatus, about 25 on-call firefighters and a training facility. Members consist of both homeowners and NFPA Level 1 and 2 certified firefighters, who follow a solid training regimen and are regularly sought after by career departments in the Lower Mainland.

Lions Bay Fire Rescue's goal is to safely respond to any incident and provide excellent service to the community through the expertise of highly trained personnel whose knowledge, skills and abilities are continually upgraded through comprehensive training programs. Primary qualifications and responsibilities of the Fire Department Trainer are set out in Appendix 1 available at www.lionsbay.ca.

The initial term for this opportunity is July to December 2018, and the anticipated fee is $1,666.67/month ($20,000/yr), subject to qualifications of the Trainer and responsibilities ultimately agreed upon.
