Finance Officer – Community Funding

Under the direction of the Director of Corporate Services, this position is responsible for administering third party funding initiatives and managing the Homelessness Partnership Strategy Aboriginal Community Wellness Funding.  This position is also responsible for working with City departments to reconcile reporting of third party funding.  In addition, the Finance Officer of Community Funding is responsible for providing financial reporting and tracking support services; maintaining and monitoring obligations and commitments related to third party funding budgets and ensure financial responsibilities are met.  This position is also responsible for the administration, accounting and reporting of various committees and projects, as well as, assisting the Finance Department with other duties as required.
The incumbent must have project management experience and the ability to understand and interpret financial policies, procedures, directives and legislated Acts.  The incumbent must be able to communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing.  Excellent computer and organizational skills and capability to work independently with minimal supervision is also required.
The knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position are normally obtained through the successful completion of a degree or diploma in Accounting or Business Administration along with a minimum of two years relevant work experience in a financial setting.  Financial experience should include working with budgets and the writing of proposals and reports.  Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
Assets include being enrolled in a recognized Accounting Association, government and policy-making experience and fluency in Inuktitut and/or French.
The annual salary for this position is $59,689.22.  The City of Iqaluit also provides an annual settlement allowance of $20,907.43 and an excellent benefits package.
