Season Skate Patrols
Our Parks, Recreation & Culture department is seeking individuals for seasonal skate patrol work immediately to April 2022. A typical season is from October to April.
As skate patrol, you will be responsible for supervision of public activities to ensure safety practices are followed during public skating times at the municipal arena. You will assist skaters when needed, treat minor injuries, and perform limited janitorial duties.
As the ideal candidate, you will be able to skate well and for extended periods of time. You will have the ability to be calm, courteous, and tactful in a variety of demanding situations and be able to enforce safety rules to ensure safe conditions for public skaters.
You must be a minimum of 16 years of age, and have completed Grade 10. Standard First Aid Level 1 certification or a recognized equivalent is required.
The 2020 hourly rate for this seasonal CUPE position is $25.58 plus 4.4% in lieu of benefits. There will be 1-2 shifts per week which will include evenings and weekends.
