The Lower Mainland Treaty Advisory Committee (LMTAC) coordinates and represents the collective interests of local government, and through them their constituents, in Lower Mainland area treaty negotiations.

LMTAC seeks an individual with an interest in public policy and First Nations issues who is sensitive to cross cultural contexts, self-motivated, and can participate in a variety of research and communication activities in a dynamic work environment. What Knowledge and Skills Do I Need?

• Comprehensive knowledge of current and emerging treaty and Aboriginal issues in Canada. 
• Knowledge of the six stage BC treaty process, local government involvement and related interests. 
• Considerable knowledge of local government structures, processes and related provincial legislation.
• Ability to analyze, compile and organize complex print and electronic information on local government, treaty, and Aboriginal issues. 
• Ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) and to establish and maintain effective working relationships and consultation processes with a wide variety of internal and external contacts.
• Ability to effectively coordinate activities, programs, and projects with converging deadlines.
• Knowledge of and familiarity with computer operations and software applications related to the work.

Any Preferred Training or Experience?

• Completion of an undergraduate degree in one of the following disciplines: public policy and administration, community planning, political science, social and economic geography, First Nations studies, organizational development, or another relevant discipline.
• Preference for candidates with demonstrated capabilities and skills acquired through a minimum of 2 years work experience within a local government, First Nations or related context, in policy analysis, public policy development, applied research or negotiations.
