Parks Facilities & Construction Team Lead

The Parks Services department has two openings for Seasonal Parks Labourers.  Reporting to the Manager of Parks and Resource Operations, these positions are responsible for providing safe, clean park areas for recreation and leisure enjoyment of the public.  These positions will have daily The Parks Services Department has a full time opening for a Parks Facilities & Construction Team Lead reporting to the Manager of Park Planning & Capital Development. The Parks Facilities and Construction Team Lead is responsible for coordinating facilities maintenance, operations and capital construction projects.  This position also assists in the delivery of routine park operations and maintenance duties throughout all RDCO Parks Department service programs.  A seasonal flexible work schedule is required.

To be successful in this role, you will have completed post-secondary education in a program such as Parks Facility Management, Architectural & Building Technology, Building Science, Construction Operations, Construction Supervision, Project Management or equivalent.  Your skills are supported by a minimum 2 years of experience in progressive related experience in landscape/park facility and recreation facility construction preferably in a local government setting. You must be proficient and have an understanding of the principles, policies, methods and objectives associated with the construction and maintenance of park facilities & amenities, procurement processes, cost estimating and budget management. Possessing an understanding of applicable laws, bylaws and permitting regulations, as well as being proficient in conducting site inspections, liaising with multiple contractors and participating in site meetings are required.

This is a full-time position to commence September 2020. This position consists of a 40-hour work week, a flexible seasonal daily work schedule including weekend work and is a member of CUPE Local 338.  We offer a salary of $32.95 per hour along with highly competitive benefits, vacation and pension package.
