Located next to downtown Victoria, the Township of Esquimalt, with a population of over 17,000, is home to Canada’s Pacific Naval Fleet. The community boasts extensive amenities including beautiful parks and beaches, scenic waterfront walkways as well as modern recreational facilities, schools and commercial services.

The Engineering Department is seeking a motivated individual to fill a full-time regular Engineering Technologist II – Asset Management position. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the technologist is responsible for supporting the Township’s asset management program through the development of information management strategy, collection methodology, and data entry, as well as for the provision of engineering technical support.

The ideal candidate will have a diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent, registration in the Association of Technologists and Technicians of BC, a class 5 BC driver’s licence, and 2 years of progressive experience in a municipal or similar environment.   

Other preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience in an asset management environment, including the tracking of repairs and replacements of assets;
  • Ability to collect, review, assess, and interpret data under minimal direction and to conduct preliminary cost estimates;
  • Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of surveying, mapping, and civil engineering design;
  • Knowledge of computerized drafting applications and geospatial databases; and,
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment.

Salary: $32.95 – $35.57 hourly plus benefits
