Permanent Full Time Position
 

The Saanich Police Department is seeking a motivated, qualified and experienced individual who will be responsible for ensuring that all documents designated for the Court System are properly, accurately, and uniformly prepared and processed according to the required legislative and departmental standards. This requires familiarity with court, departmental, Crown Counsel and court policies, procedures and directives; a high level of confidentiality and attention to detail in all aspects of the work. Other responsibilities will include preparing and/or processing documents relating to the submission and disposition of Criminal Code charges submitted by police officers. 

This position will appeal to a detail-oriented and well organized individual with a thorough knowledge of C.P.I.C. policy and procedures.  Requirements include Grade 12 or equivalent, plus an additional post-secondary program up to one year full-time in a related field; minimum two years related experience working in a police records/court management or related legal environment and working in an office environment with an additional one year experience and proficiency with the inquiry, maintenance and audit functions of the police systems, C.P.I.C. PRIME-RMS, Court, JUSTIN, CJIM, CORNET and the National Fingerprint Booking Systems; proficient in MS Office Suites for word processing, spreadsheets, email systems and database applications; minimum typing speed of 45 wpm and possession of a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence.  Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The successful candidate must also complete/possess pre-requisite and 5 day formal C.P.I.C. Training Program, hold or obtain Special Municipal Constable Status and take and adhere to Oath of Allegiance and Oath of Office as provided in the Police Act of B.C., and must pass/maintain the required enhanced reliability security clearance and polygraph.  This position is identified as continuous operations under the collective agreement that include seven day per week coverage with 5 days on/3 days off and 4 days on and 2 days off rotation from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $33.35 per hour with an excellent benefits package.  Job description and competition information can be found at www.saanich.ca.
