Labour Relations Advisor
In your new role you will be working directly with senior management and report to the Director of Human Resources.
You are an experienced Labour Relations professional who thrives on working in a fast paced dynamic environment. As a member of the Human Resources’ senior leadership team, you will utilize your 7+ years in a labour relations capacity in a unionized environment in conjunction with your ability to foster and maintain positive employer/employee relationships. You will be accountable for the administration, guidance and interpretation of collective agreements, including handling of grievance, arbitration and human rights procedures. The Labour Relations Advisor will mentor the human resources team in providing a full spectrum of informal and formal employee and labour relations activities, including providing advice and guidance to the City’s management group. You will participate in Labour Management and Collective Bargaining activities, as well as lead staff involved in a variety of programs including occupational health & safety, attendance & disability management.
With your recent senior level experience working in a unionized environment in a human resources or labour relations capacity as well as a degree in a related field, you will have exceptional interpersonal, written and spoken communication skills and demonstrated problem solving and dispute resolution abilities. You will have in-depth knowledge of labour law, legislation and arbitral jurisprudence and experience addressing human rights and duty to accommodate issues.
With your experience conducting investigations into employee conduct, including allegations of bullying and harassment, you will be expected to establish and maintain positive, constructive working relationships with all level of staff and union representatives. As a senior member of the Human Resource team, you will demonstrate the ability to analyze and interpret information, write reports and business correspondence and to present information in an effective and understandable manner.
