Located next to downtown Victoria, the Township of Esquimalt, with a population of over 17,000, is home to Canada’s Pacific Naval Fleet. The community boasts extensive amenities including beautiful parks and beaches, scenic waterfront walkways as well as modern recreational facilities, schools and commercial services.

The Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a motivated individual to fill a full-time regular Arborist 1 position. Reporting to the Arborist 2, the Arborist 1 does planting, pruning, hedge trimming, watering and general arboriculture and horticultural maintenance of a variety of coniferous and deciduous trees.  In addition, this position is responsible for general park maintenance.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • International Society of Arboriculture Certification (ISA)
  • ISA Certified Tree Risk Assessor
  • Current and Valid Class 5 B.C. Drivers Licence
  • Pesticide Applicator’s License for the Province of British Columbia
  • 2-3 years of related experience

Salary: $30.69 hourly plus benefits
