Community Communications Manager

As the Community Communications Manager, you will develop, implement and monitor our community engagement and research programs that are delivered by all city staff and used by consultants and the development community. The position also oversees all communications for operational departments and communication strategies to mitigate risk to the organization and the delivery of high-risk projects. You will manage a small team of community engagement and communications professionals in a fast paced and dynamic environment.

You are a proven influential leader with expert knowledge and understanding and hands-on experience with both community engagement and communications services. You are accountable, have sound judgement and are a strategic thinker. You also possess excellent management skills and are a strong communicator and team-builder. Your interpersonal skills allow you to effectively lead staff and build strong working relationships and credibility with internal and external stakeholders to advance corporate and Council priorities.

You have a communications or related post-secondary degree with at least 5 years' experience leading, planning, and delivering communications services, ideally with some of your career experience, expertise and accomplishments being achieved in a municipal or public sector organization. Strong writing skills are essential, along with an understanding of news writing style and adherence to Canadian Press and City style guides.
