The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury is looking for a highly motivated and organized professional to join the Corporate Services Department.

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, we are looking for a candidate committed to sound risk management practices including identifying and analysing risk exposure, establishing loss prevention measures and developing a sustainable and responsible risk management plan. This role will be the primary contact responding to all corporate insurance and risk management matters including administration of incidents and claims. The individual will work with the Town’s adjuster, assigned legal counsel, insurance companies, and liaise with law firms and insurance companies to prepare for court actions and to facilitate larger claim settlements. Responsible for reviewing agreements, candidates will aid with negotiations, and prepare, revise and implement risk management policies and procedures. The position is responsible for providing advice and risk management expertise to all staff including local boards and maintain certificates of insurance for agreements. The individual will conduct field inspections of various Town sites for the purpose of analysing possible risks, making recommendations and training staff on the completion of accident forms and demonstrating best practices to minimize risks.

Candidates will possess a post-secondary diploma in business, economics or commerce and three years’ experience in claims, insurance and/or risk management preferably in a municipal environment. The CIP/CRM or similar designation or willingness to work towards such a designation is considered an asset. Candidates will possess demonstrated practical knowledge of the insurance industry and claims management. Candidates will be able to communicate effectively, professionally and courteously with all levels of staff and Council, external contacts and the general public and be productive in a team environment. Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize work and to work under pressure to meet multiple deadlines accompanied by ability to exercise discretion and good judgement is required.

The position offers a salary range of $60,623 to $75,778 (2020 rates), plus a competitive benefit package.
