The City of Burnaby’s Human Resources Department is actively seeking a HRIS Analyst to join its busy Human Resources Records and Benefits division.

Reporting to the Supervisor, HR Systems, Records and Benefits, the HRIS Analyst’s responsibilities are focused on maintaining an organized workflow of processing the full lifecycle of employee status changes while multi-tasking complex reporting, ad-hoc projects and supporting the benefits portfolio for the City.  The position represents the business in complex HRIS projects while quickly adapting to changing day-to-day priorities within strict deadlines and tight timeframes. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of Human Resource policies, procedures, legislation, agreements, functions and programs. Additional requirements include sound knowledge of the concepts, practices and techniques of HRIS and business administration. Experience working with pension and benefit providers is preferred.

The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of a human resource records management system, ideally as a business super-user of SAP-HR, with experience using organizational management software. The position requires skills in ad hoc reporting, Crystal Reports, advanced skills in MS Excel, Word and typing speed and accuracy. Attention to detail is paramount. Effective problem solving, critical thinking, decision making and organizational skills are all essential to the success of the incumbent. Effective verbal and written communication is essential as this position provides information on various program, policies and procedures to all levels of the organization as well as various external agencies.  The position will also assist with the development and maintenance of business process and system documentation. Teamwork, not only within the division but also within our highly motivated group of HR professionals and other stakeholder groups such as IT and Payroll, is critical. The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Human Resources or another related field, or a combination of training and experience. A CPHR designation is an asset. Experience in a unionized environment is necessary and public sector or municipal government organizations are preferred.

Hours of work: 70 hours bi-weekly; 8:00 AM to 4:45 PM with a nine-day fortnight schedule.
