The City of Kelowna has an opportunity for you! Join our Landfill and Compost Operations team and make a difference. An Environmental Technician I performs environmental protection duties at various locations throughout the City including: inspecting, operating, monitoring and maintaining landfill/composting/bio-solids equipment including landfill gas systems; performing sampling for the Environmental Monitoring Programs, research and recommend steps to reduce the production of environmental emissions; assist with the installation of materials to improve operations from an environmental perspective; collect, record, and analyze data for regulatory compliance; troubleshoot equipment; and liaise with contractors, equipment operators and other City staff.

Qualifications include:

  • Environmental Sciences Diploma or diploma in a related discipline
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to be flexible and work within multiple teams
  • Computer literacy
