Thames Centre invites qualified applicants for the full-time position of Director of Community Services & Facilities.
Reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) the Director of Community Services & Facilities, is responsible for the general control, management and administration and the affairs of the Community Services Department (parks, recreation and senior centre), including the construction, maintenance, upkeep and repair of all Municipal facilities; and collectively for the effective and efficient functioning of the Senior Management Team. The Director acts as the municipal officer in charge of technical and administrative policy for all community programs and services, including parks and open spaces and all municipal facilities.
Candidates must be self-motivated, able to work flexible hours, exhibit superior time management capabilities, have excellent written and oral communication skills and have computer skills including, but not limited to, word processing and database management.
Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills Required:
  • Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree in facility management, recreation, leisure studies, public administration or business administration, or related field.
  • Possession of a recognized professional designation (CRFP, CIT etc.).
  • Minimum of Seven (7) years’ related work experience.
  • Thorough working knowledge of municipal operations in parks and facilities, construction and maintenance management; program design concepts and marketing strategies; provincial grant processes, Municipal Act, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Thorough working knowledge and proficiency in the recreation portfolio, including recreation programming and community development.
  • Ability to work with Council, the public, school boards and the recreation community and balance their needs with operational requirements.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Proven skills in managing diverse activities and projects simultaneously.
  • Skilled in organizing, directing, and motivating a team of professional and technical staff.
  • Excellent financial management, budgeting, prioritization, problem solving, and leadership skills.
  • A valid unrestricted Ontario drivers licence (minimum class “G”)
Salary range for 2020 is $98,462.00 to $110,801.00 with a 35 hour work week. This position may be required to work extended and varied hours as needed.
