This position reports to the CPIC Supervisor and involves terminal operation and clerical work relative to the provision and receipt of information that is processed within the Canadian Police Information Center (CPIC) system.  The incumbent operates CPIC, JUSTIN, and PRIME computer systems; codes and types information and requests; receives, decodes, and relays incoming information and data to appropriate recipients. Ensures all entries are processed accurately and rapidly. An employee in this position will assist in liaising with internal and external contacts including provincial and federal crown and court registries, youth, adult, and supreme courts, other policing agencies, probation offices, and ministries across Canada. Responds to enquiries or requests for CPIC data and provides CPIC information to authorized individuals and agencies.  This position is accountable for the input and dissemination of information within the CPIC system and must maintain validations and verifications of all CPIC transactions within the jurisdiction of Burnaby. An employee in this position will be required to review and verify all received information to be in compliance with CPIC Advisory, RCMP, and departmental policies and procedures and ensure Federal & Provincial standards are met prior to processing. Generates occurrence files in PRIME and performs some (UCR) Uniform Crime Reporting scoring and coding in accordance with current policies and practices.  Generates, reviews, and maintains CPIC files to ensure the quality of data/information is accurate. 
 
Qualifications include: completion of Grade 11, including or supplemented by courses in word processing and standard commercial subjects plus sound related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Rapid and accurate typing is crucial. The successful applicant will have sound knowledge of business English in written and oral form; of clerical and record keeping methods and procedures; the ability to understand and interpret oral and written instructions; and the ability to make moderately complex computations and tabulations. Related work experience in a policing environment is an asset.  This position is required to obtain and maintain an RCMP Enhanced Security Clearance.
 
The starting wage is $25.31 per hour (2019 rates), plus 12% in lieu of benefits.
