The City of Campbell River is seeking an experienced Engineering Technologist III to join our Wastewater Department team.

The Job…
As part of the integrated wastewater services team, you will work in a fast-paced and customer focused environment. Working with the exempt supervisor, you will be actively involved in the design, project management, contract administration and construction supervision functions related to the maintenance, rehabilitation, replacement and new construction of municipal treatment facilities, lift stations and underground infrastructure.

You will play a key role in developing and delivering the City’s new in-house sanitary sewer CCTV video inspection program to assess current condition of existing infrastructure and establish effective maintenance and rehabilitation programs; and in leading a sewer system I/I and flow modeling program. In addition you will administer contracts and manage small projects; write technical reports; review engineer drawings for new development; draft bylaws, procedures, risk management plans, and policies; and input data to asset management and GIS databases. Work is performed both in the office and field environment.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills;
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ relevant technical experience in water and/or wastewater within last 10 years;
  • A two (2) year diploma in Civil Engineering or relevant field such as water, wastewater or environmental technology from a recognized post-secondary education institution;
  • Be registered or eligible for registration as an AScT with ASTTBC or other self-regulated professional association relevant to the position;
  • Possess and maintain a valid BC Class 5 Drivers’ Licence.
