We are looking for a forward-thinking, innovative Engineering Technologist to join our team on a full-time basis. This position is located in our Maple Ridge Operations Centre which is a front-line provider for public works services, including the management of the Roads and Fleet, Water Distribution, Sewage Disposal, Storm water management, Electrical Mechanical Systems and Procurement. Operational focus is on health and safety of our citizens; protecting the large investment in the public works and underground infrastructure; protecting the environment; maintaining service levels; providing essential and convenience features, while providing these services at a minimum cost to taxpayers.
The Operations Centre is a positive, fast paced, dynamic environment where you will interact with Engineers & Technologist, Contractors, City Maintenance Crews, Certified Operators and the Public in the provision of municipal services.
This is technical, regulatory, and inspection work performed in the Engineering Department. This role inspects and regulates public works construction work performed by private contractors to ensure compliance with City regulations, standards, contracts, specifications and related requirements. The work also includes field coordination of construction projects, preparing progress reports, initiating Change Work Orders, as required, authorizing progress payments, and preparing and maintaining a variety of records and reports related to the work. Considerable independence of judgement and action is exercised in performing the day-to-day inspection and regulatory work with the more complex problems, design changes, or policy matters being discussed with or referred to a superior who reviews work performance in terms of the effectiveness of the inspection and enforcement services rendered.
You will have graduated with a Diploma from a recognized Institute of Technology in the Civil Engineering Technology discipline plus have sound related technical and inspection experience, preferably Level III Public Work Inspector certification; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
This position requires strong leadership with an ability to work in a team setting, along with excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skill and the ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet tight deadlines.
