Planner 1 (Affordable Housing)

The City of Richmond is currently looking for a regular full-time Planner 1 (Affordable Housing) who will assists with the overall implementation of the City Richmond’s Affordable Housing Strategy and related policies. We are looking for someone who has knowledge of community planning and affordable housing practices, principles, policies, methods and procedures in a municipal setting.

This position is responsible for undertaking tasks related to research, data analysis and program evaluation to support the implementation and ongoing enhancement of the Affordable Housing strategy. This role is also responsible for managing the day to day operation of the City’s Low End Market Rental program, and will review development proposals and collaborate with other key departments and stakeholders both internally and externally.

We are looking for:
Completion of a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Planning or a related discipline with professional certification gained through examination (i.e. MCIP.) supplemented by a minimum of 1 year and up to and including 2 years’ related experience in housing policy, legislation, and practices, preferably in a municipal environment. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
