This is recreation work involving leadership responsibility for planning, implementing and leading a variety of social, cultural, sport, and general interest activities as assigned by a supervisor. An incumbent provides guidance to volunteers on their program duties and is responsible for safe and proper use of equipment and facilities. Duties are performed within established guidelines but some independent action and initiative is exercised in leading and instructing assigned programs.
Candidates must possess current first aid and CPR certifications. Other applicable certifications such as High Five and NCCP are considered assets.
Program Leaders will have experience leading recreation programs in a municipal setting and/or the equivalent coaching and volunteer experience. We are currently seeking staff for: general camps and sports camps for ages 5 through 14. Applicants must be available to attend an inperson interview on either the late afternoon of February 19 or morning of February 23, 2020.
Candidates must state their availability for work in Spring Break and/or Summer based on the following:
Spring Break - If selected, candidates must be available to work daily, Monday through Friday, between March 16 and 27, 2020 (SD43 Spring break).
Summer Camps – If selected, candidates must be available to work daily, Monday through Friday, between June 29 and September 4, 2020
These roles require flexibility as shifts vary to accommodate program schedules and may include evenings and weekends. In addition to the dates above, if selected, candidates will be required to attend in person training dates in advance of work.
A CUPE hourly rate of $22.09 to $25.82 is offered, along with a percentage in lieu of benefits.
