Theatre Technician 2
Delta Parks, Recreation & Culture is looking for a creative and well-organized individual to work in our cultural facilities and venues as a Theatre Technician 2. In this supervisory and skilled technical position, the Theatre Technician will lead the planning and delivery of technical services such as stage production, video installs, lighting, scenes, background, curtains and audio solution for events and concerts. This permanent part-time opportunity requires an individual who is willing to work a variety of shifts including daytime, evenings and weekends.
The Theatre Technician 2 will be responsible for determining the best lighting and sound solutions for events and concerts. They will provide expertise in such areas as scenic lighting, sound requirements, stage production, video installs and theatre operation procedures. The incumbent will also prepare cost estimates for budgeting or repair purposes relative to a variety of theatre materials and equipment and will make recommendations and instruct staff in the proper work procedures, hazardous and safety precautions.
Completion of a diploma in a field related to the work plus sound related stage production experience and supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience with equipment related to lighting, sound and stage development, is required. The successful applicant will possess considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, techniques, materials, tools and equipment used in the operation of a performing arts complex and will be able to effectively plan, lead and participate in the work of subordinates engaged in stage production, video installs, scenic lighting and sound control for both live mix and pre-recorded sound operations. The incumbent will be skilled in assembling, operating, troubleshooting and performing minor repairs and maintenance on a variety of equipment used in theatre production. Excellent interpersonal skills are required in order to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts and subordinates. Ability to work at heights and climb ladders is a must.
The City of Delta provides a competitive salary of $30.33 - $35.68 per hour (commensurate with experience) and an excellent benefits package including Municipal Pension Plan.
