Mission Public Schools is dedicated to providing our students with an educational environment that nurtures the development of an Educated Citizen.  Located in the beautiful Fraser Valley north of Abbotsford, Mission is a vibrant community of over 6200 students and 850 employees. We are committed to providing a safe, equitable, and inclusive educational system for all students in our 12 rural and urban elementary schools, two middle schools, one secondary school, a distributed learning centre, an alternative learning centre, and a vocational and technical college.  

Due to a retirement, the District is seeking an innovative and progressive Director of Operations. Reporting to the Secretary Treasurer, the Director of Operations will work alongside other positive, enthusiastic, and compassionate members of the District Leadership Team to achieve the District’s strategic goals.  The Director is responsible for planning, managing, and leading the team of managers, supervisors, trades persons, and other technical experts that are responsible for all aspects of Facilities, Information Technology, Transportation, and Health and Safety support services.

The primary responsibilities of the position include: strategic leadership for support services; directing and managing the maintenance of school district buildings, grounds and other assets; directing the Information Technology services, Transportation services, and the Health and Safety program; ensuring that buildings, grounds, and other facilities are well maintained for the delivery of educational programs and support services.

As the ideal candidate you are an engaged, visionary thinker and leader, with exceptional team building skills, with experience leading a diverse group.

Education and Certification:
  • Trades qualification
  • A Degree related to construction – Architecture, Engineering, Facilities Management or related
  • A Diploma or Degree in Business Administration

  • Fifteen years of progressively responsible experience in construction or building maintenance
  • Five years of middle management experience / ten years supervisory experience
  • Significant leadership experience in a unionized environment
  • Experience in the education sector preferred
