Director, Financial ServicesThe City of White Rock is a unique, ocean-side community of 20,000 citizens known for its sunny weather, expansive beach, historic pier, delightful restaurants, and sense of community. The City is located half an hour south of Vancouver on the shore of Semiahmoo Bay.
We are seeking a Director of Financial Services, a position that reports to the Chief Administrative Officer and who is Chief Financial Officer responsible for directing and overseeing all facets of the City’s financial operations. As a valued member of the senior management team, you will appear before Council on a regular basis and will work closely with key stakeholders throughout the organization to plan, develop, recommend and implement financial strategies, policies, systems and process to ensure the City acts in accordance with Council’s direction and external regulations. You provide leadership to all functions within the Finance Department including budgeting, financial reporting and monitoring, financial analysis, revenue, utility billing, collections, investments, purchasing, taxation, payroll and parking services. You will be responsible for providing strategic direction and annual work plans for the department as well as the planning, coordination and supervision of department activities. Your business and financial acumen provides you the ability to execute strategies that will secure the financial health and sustainability of the City.
You have exceptional communications abilities, including presentation and report writing skills and the ability to communicate complex financial information to a diverse group of people in an easy to understand manner. You possess an open, team-oriented leadership style and welcome the challenge of seeking continuous improvements in organizational efficiency. It is essential that you are able to work collaboratively with senior management, Council and staff and that you are able to demonstrate you bring a distinguished customer service philosophy. You are respected for your ability to gain commitment on financial priorities and recognized for your positive corporate contribution.
The ideal candidate for this position will have a University degree in Business Administration, Commerce or Economics and a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, supplemented by progressively responsible managerial experience, preferably in local government.
