Our Engineering Department is looking for two auxiliary Watchpersons/Night Dispatcher - Watchpersons for radio and telephone dispatch and routine custodial work on an assigned evening or night shift, out of our Works Yard.  Receives, records and relays a variety of messages, alarms, video surveillance information and instructions between crews and supervisory staff; calls out and dispatches crews as instructed, telephones forward or cancels material supply orders as instructed. Watches for and reports prowlers, fires and other danger of loss or damage to property and equipment; makes rounds inside and outside buildings and helps by calling out and dispatching work crews and checks for credentials of persons entering the Works Yard. Performs simple janitorial tasks in the dispatch office. Performs other related work as required.

Qualifications include completion of grade 12 with sound related experience, preferably as a Watchperson or an equivalent combination of training and experience.  Working knowledge of the functions and procedures of dispatch work. Ability to work alone on various shifts with minimal supervision and to understand both oral and written instructions; to provide factual information, deal courteously with staff and the general public, and relay messages accurately by radio or telephone; to perform simple recordkeeping tasks; and to perform simple stores, fueling and janitorial tasks. Sufficient physical ability to perform the work.

We require individuals to work rotating shifts of weekends and holidays, plus Monday to Friday night dispatch coverage as needed.
