Part-Time Recreation ProgrammerCommunity Centre
The Town of Comox invites applications for the position of a part-time Recreation Programmer. This is a Union, CUPE Local 556 position (30 hours per week) at a rate of pay of $31.48 per hour plus benefits, and includes a three month probation period. The successful applicant will be required to work some weekend, evening and/or statutory holiday shifts.
The Recreation Programmer, under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor, is responsible for planning, implementing, supervising and evaluating a variety of programs. The Recreation Programmer is also responsible for promoting interest and participation in recreation programs, directing the work of instructors and volunteers, along with organizing and executing community special events.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- plans, schedules, coordinates, implements, supervises and evaluates a variety of programs and special events
- assists in promotion and marketing of programs
- liaises with community organizations and works in partnership to provide recreation services
- assists in developing long-term plans for recreation services
- supports/promotes and provides exceptional customer service
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Completion of a degree from a recognized institution in recreation with a minimum of two years’ experience or a combination of education, training and experience is required.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of marketing, staff supervisory experience, and strong computer skills. The successful candidate will provide valid certification for Emergency First Aid - Community Care with CPR C/AED (or greater), a valid Class 5 Driver’s License, and will pass a criminal record check (at the successful candidate’s expense).
