Building Services

Are you a journeyman-level Plumber/Gasfitter with experience providing installation, maintenance and repair work on plumbing, heating, gas and other related equipment?  Do you have a passion for providing quality results along with outstanding customer service? Join our Building Services Team with the City of Kelowna and provide integral services to City maintained buildings and infrastructure. 

Duties include regular installation, maintenance and repair work on building piping systems and components as well as similar work on backflow assemblies and boiler associated equipment.  We are seeking a candidate who ensures applicable codes, regulations, methods and standard and safe operating practices are followed, as well as ensuring permits are in place to complete the work.

Experience with planning new and alternative designs for various capital projects to support life-cycle costing, energy efficient and water demand management would be an asset, as would experience preparing estimates and obtaining quotes from suppliers and contractors. The successful candidate would also coordinate with external contractors on the installation, inspection and maintenance of assigned work

Qualifications include:
  • Plumbing Trade Ticket
  • Gasfitter Trade Ticket – Class B
  • Backflow Assembly Tester Certification
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and experience in working with contractors
  • Ability to obtain an Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance
