Recreation Programmer


Delta Parks, Recreation & Culture is looking for a dynamic, creative and well-organized individual to join our team on temporary full time basis (approximately 12-18 months) as a Recreation Programmer. This opportunity may require the individual to work a variety of shifts including daytimes, evenings and weekends.

In this role you will be assisting a superior in the planning and implementation of Skating programs in community recreation centers. The work involves supervising program staff; establishing and maintaining liaison with a variety of internal and external contacts; promoting and publicizing interest and participation in a variety of recreational activities and programs; and assisting in the monitoring of program budgets.

Sound knowledge of the recreational requirements and resources of the area served as well as sound knowledge of organized community recreation and arena principles and practices are required. Successful applicants will have working knowledge of skating, and other pursuits related to various recreational programs and are able to prepare operating schedules, coordinate facilities usage, organize special events, and assist in the recruitment of part time staff. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of external and internal contacts is essential.

Minimum requirements include a Community College graduation in community recreation plus some related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Occupational First Aid and CPR-C, High Five and Food Safe certifications are considered assets. A valid B.C. Class 5 Driver’s license is required.

The City of Delta provides a competitive salary of $28.55 - $33.60 per hour (commensurate with experience) and an excellent benefits package including Municipal Pension Plan.
