As the largest city and regional hub of Southwest Ontario, the City of London offers an outstanding quality of life. World-class health care and educational institutions, big city attractions, and a community that is clean, safe, and affordable, make London a great place to raise a family. A leader in commerce, culture, and innovation, London brings together expertise in manufacturing, agriculture, and healthcare, with emerging sectors like robotics, digital creative, and financial technology. After more than 35 years of outstanding service, London’s City Manager is retiring. Council is now seeking its next leader to continue the advancement of the corporation and build a “better London for all.”

The City Manager reports to the Mayor and Council and is their trusted advisor and champion for a responsive and modern public service. As the chief executive of this $1.1B corporation and staff of 3,500, the City Manager guides the Senior Leadership Team in the execution of Council’s priorities to “strengthen the community, build a sustainable city, grow the economy, create a safe London for women and girls, and lead in public service.” The City Manager is highly visible throughout the corporation, involved and present in the community, and engaged at all levels of government, encouraging partnerships and collaboration. The City Manager sets the tone for a positive workplace culture that values diversity and inclusion and teamwork while fostering innovation and service excellence.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned executive in the public or private sectors with significant knowledge of municipal policies and operations. You have served in senior roles in unionized organizations of similar scale and complexity, are enthusiastic about building relationships and are known for being action-oriented and leading with conviction. You are politically astute, diplomatic, and possess a track record as an effective mediator and bridge builder. You have a strong background in financial management and evidence of delivering high-quality customer service. You quickly establish trust through your warmth and open communication and practical way of getting things done. Here is an opportunity to lead a progressive corporation that is driven by community and to make London your home.
