The Information Technology Department is seeking a Business Analyst 2 to fill the role of Fire Systems Analyst to enhance and sustain the City’s public safety informational technology systems with a primary focus on serving the Fire department. The Business Analyst 2 will perform tasks related to optimizing and sustaining existing Fire applications, deploying applications and developing or configuring applications; also participates in the identification of business requirements and the design of solutions and establishes working relationships with users primarily in Public Safety and Fire department; exercises considerable independent judgement and action in performing the systems maintenance tasks and refers more complex problems to a superior who evaluates work performance in terms of effective services rendered. The successful candidate will perform a number of activities supporting the sustainment of Fire / Public Safety applications; monitors post implementation performance of applications; identifies significant issues and implements solutions or workarounds; supporting the development or configuration of applications such as developing interface definitions, processes and procedures, developing unit tests and performing module walk-throughs, coordinating user reviews of configured applications prior to quality assurance tests and supports the identification of business requirements and the design of solutions such as assisting in conducting workshops, documenting, consolidating and reviewing needs, preparing alternatives and presentations to explain analyses and recommendations; prepares working papers of current workflows and low and/or high fidelity prototypes; documents proposed and current architecture environments. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include completion of a Bachelor’s university degree in computer science or a related discipline with sound related experience is required; or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Other qualifications include the ability to develop detailed work plans to carry out technological changes; strong analytical, problem solving and excellent verbal & written communication skills; the ability to make application security recommendations; to work both independently and as part of a project team and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts; and to not only adapt to change, but to also learn and embrace changing environments. Prior experience implementing and supporting Fire and Public Safety systems such as or similar to, Intergraph Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), FDM records management, Kronos Telestaff work force management, 9-1-1 dispatch and other related public safety system expertise will be considered a strong asset.
