Communications and Membership Management Coordinator

The Local Government Management Association of British Columbia, located in Victoria, is an independent non-profit organization that has been providing professional development and training for local government professionals across B.C. for 100 years. Due to a promotion, we are looking for an engaging, collaborative, digitally savvy Communications and Membership Management Coordinator to join our dynamic team!

You will work closely with a dedicated team who are passionate about helping local government professionals be the best they can be. If you are a creative individual who enjoys working in a positive, team-oriented environment, this is the job for you!

The key responsibilities of this position include:
  • Developing, managing and evaluating a variety of communications, marketing and digital media strategies (including social marketing campaigns) that align with the Association’s Strategic Plan objectives and educational/professional development targets
  • Leading increased brand awareness
  • Overseeing the creation and development of promotional and informational material
  • Researching content, producing, editing and implementing a variety of communications tactics for web, social media, advertising, video and print campaigns for internal and external audiences
  • Leading the design and managing the implementation of membership engagement strategies to increase awareness and connectivity of the Association with both members and non-members
  • Analyzing membership data and local government trends in order to develop and implement appropriate engagement, marketing and communications strategies
  • Ensuring the management, maintenance and update of the Association’s communications platforms (website, online learning, membership database)

We are looking for someone with a Diploma or university degree in communications, marketing or a related discipline and three to five years’ related experience with the following:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques for professional marketing and communications
  • Creating innovative marketing and communications plans, promotional and informational materials to engage a variety of audiences
  • Crafting key messages for specific audiences, initiatives, or events
  • Knowledge of graphic design processes, photography, video editing and production and print and web production
  • Writing and editing for web, print, social media, video and advertising
  • Ability to develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate strategic communications plans, programs and activities
  • Experience working with and managing volunteers and contractors
  • Experience overseeing consultants and program specific communications requirements
  • Technology required for communications management including Office 365, social media platforms, database and website management and learning management systems.

Experience in local government and/or non-profit association management is an asset.
