Cultural Services Coordinator


The City of Delta is looking for a dynamic and professional individual to fill the full time community development role of Cultural Services Coordinator within our Parks, Recreation & Culture team.

Reporting to the Recreation Complex Facility Manager, this position will be responsible for the coordination, implementation and evaluation of a wide variety of programs, activities and services for museum and cultural services in the community. The work involves considerable independence of judgement and action in preparing, scheduling and coordinating the usage of a variety of facilities and amenities for the city. The incumbent is involved in the hiring, training and supervision of a group of subordinates and volunteers engaged in cultural, clerical and instructional tasks and will also be responsible for preparing program and event budget estimates, tracking expenditures as well as preparing publicity and promotional materials related to the work.

Our successful candidate will have a university degree in a related discipline and related museum, cultural services and community development experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You will possess considerable knowledge of principles, practices, philosophy and objectives of museum and cultural services as well as services provided by community cultural groups and associations that deal with both funding and governance of cultural services. You will have a strong ability to plan, train, assign, review, supervise, and evaluate the work of subordinates and are able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts.

A Valid BC Class 5 driver’s licence, St John’s First Aid Certificate and an AED Certificate are required.

The City of Delta provides a competitive salary of $32.25 - $37.97 per hour (commensurate with experience); and an excellent benefits package including Municipal Pension Plan as well as an earned-days-off system.
