Responsibilities
General mechanical work in buses, trolley coaches, and equipment. Work includes maintenance, repair and overhaul of vehicles and their components. 

Qualifications
Red Seal Certification as a Truck and Transport Mechanic or Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic in commercial transport vehicle maintenance repair. Must have served an apprenticeship as a Commercial Transport Mechanic or Heavy Duty Mechanic, or be in receipt of a Military Certificate in Vehicle Technician QL5 and a Red Seal Certificate of Qualification Truck and Transport Mechanic. A good understanding and working knowledge of electrical work, steering, hydraulic and air brake systems is required. Preference will be given to applicants with a CVIP certification. The ability, after training, to hold a Class 2 driver's licence with air ticket is required.  An upto-date driving abstract must accompany application.  Maximum 6 points in the past 3 years, no impaired convictions, roadside suspensions or prohibitions in the past 5 years. Will be required to undergo a comprehensive medical examination.

An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process.  A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.

As of January 25, 2016, CUPE Local 7000 has withdrawn their support of the 2009 Mobility Agreement. Consequently, the terms and conditions of the agreement are no longer in effect for Enterprise-wide employees accepting employment at BCRTC, or BCRTC Employees moving to one of the other operating companies. In this regard, due to the withdrawal of support for the Mobility Agreement, employees in this transition will no longer receive any of the benefits of the said agreement, such as: accreditation for their prior service for the purpose of determining service-related entitlements or vacation or leave-of-absence entitlements, or the required benefits waiting period.

Work Schedule
37.5 hours per week.

Rate of Pay
Wage: $40.09 per hour
