The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Accounting Clerk to join our team of professionals in the Finance Division; Accounts Payable Department.

Reporting to the Manager, Finance Business Support, in this unionized position you will liaise with project managers and contractors, process capital contract invoices for payment and maintain holdback accounts.  You will distribute costs to applicable GL codes for large contracts and reconcile general and subsidiary ledgers. In this role, you will prepare journal entries, verify balances, correct posting errors, make adjustments accordingly and be responsible for coordinating and preparing an annual Statement of Financial Information. The successful candidate will prepare and file monthly tax remittances and prepare annual financial working papers. 

Your education will include completion of Grade 12, completion of the first year and enrolled in the second year of a recognized accounting program plus considerable experience related to the work, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You will have considerable knowledge of the methods, rules and regulations of municipal accounting operations and sound knowledge of bookkeeping processes and the procedures of financial and fund accounting. The ability to communicate effectively, establish priorities, schedule workload, maintain complex records and prepare statistical and fiscal reports is integral in this role.

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $29.74 – $34.98 per hour (2019 rates), plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday – Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm.
