We are currently seeking a permanent full-time Certified Wastewater & Water Treatment Utility Operator III to work in our Infrastructure Services, Water and Sewer division.
Reporting to the Chief Operator, this position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Town’s sanitary sewage treatment / water treatment systems, in accordance with Town policy and Ministry of Environment guidelines. Work involves making operational decisions and performing operational and maintenance duties in order to maintain effluent quality and water treatment quality that meets or exceeds all compliance criteria outlined in the Town’s Operating Permit and Provincial and/or Federal legislation.
Applicants must possess a Wastewater Treatment Level III, Wastewater Collection Level III, Water Treatment Level III and Water Distribution Level III Certification of Qualification or Competency from Environmental Operators Certification Program. A minimum of five years previous experience in Municipal sewage treatment is required. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System Training (WHMIS), Chlorine Handlers Certification, Cross Connection Control Certification, Confined Space Certification, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certification are required. The incumbent must also possess a valid Class 3 BC Driver’s Licence with Air Endorsement and Occupation First Aid Level 1 Certificate.
This is a permanent full time Union position (40 hours per week) with a rate of pay of $37.68 per hour (subject to JE). The position offers an attractive benefits package as provided within the Collective
Agreement between the Town of Ladysmith and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 401.
