An exciting regular full time opportunity exists within our Engineering Services department for a full-time Transportation Planning Technician. You will be able to apply and expand your expertise as you:
 
  • Research, assemble and analyze a variety of data and materials on transportation issues and relevant aspects of planning projects
  • Prepare preliminary designs, layouts, specifications and cost estimates for traffic control signal systems, traffic plans, road markings and signs
  • Conduct site and traffic complaint investigations
  • Prepare reports and maintain a variety of traffic-related materials and records
  • Perform traffic studies as well as summarize and interpret traffic movement and volume data
  • Represent the District on external working groups
  • Provide a high level of customer service to a variety of internal and external contacts regarding traffic matters, policies and regulations.

Your qualifications include completion of Grade 12 supplemented by technical school or university courses in civil engineering or related disciplines, plus sound experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. It would be considered an asset for you to have a diploma from a recognized Institute of Technology with related technical certification, as well as registration as a Certified Technician.

The hourly pay range for this union position is $34.98 - $41.29 per hour (based on a flexible 5/5/4 35-hour workweek) plus an attractive fringe benefit package is offered.
