Environmental and Engineering Services Coordinator

(Full-Time)


Located in the upper eastern Fraser Valley, the District of Kent offers a rural lifestyle with affordable housing options, urban amenities downtown and easy access to outdoor pursuits.  Our community is conveniently situated 1.5 hours northeast of Vancouver and 8 km from the resort municipality of Harrison Hot Springs.

Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering Services, the successful incumbent will perform both office and field assignments in the areas of municipal engineering, environmental projects and fisheries related activities.  As an Environmental and Engineering Services Coordinator at the District to Kent, a typical week could see you conducting investigations and reporting for in-stream activities; responding to inquires from the public related to environmental concerns; performing field inspections  and audits of fisheries compensation sites; providing direction to construction and maintenance staff on fisheries and environmental issues; conducting fish and endangered species salvages, identification and sample collection; and performing administrative work including inspections, design review and permit applications for  municipal projects with respect to sanitary sewer systems, water supply, roads, flood protection systems, urban and rural drainage systems, solid waste and environmental projects, traffic control, sidewalks and parks. We are looking for a solutions-based individual who not only has strong communication and interpersonal skills to execute the coordination of works, but also has strong technical skills to complete the task effectively. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who likes a variety of work in their day to day activities.

Qualifications include a post-secondary degree or diploma in environmental studies, engineering, planning or related field; minimum of three years work experience in environmental service/monitoring and project inspection; and a registered member of the Association of Applies Science Technologists and Technicians of BC or the Association of Professional Biology of BC (R.P.Bio).

The wage rate for this bargaining unit position is $38.05 per hour.  Upon successful completion of the required probationary period the wage will increase to $44.77 per hour plus a comprehensive benefit package.  For more information about the District of Kent, please visit our website at www.kentbc.ca.
