Digital Content Coordinator
The City of North Vancouver’s Communication Department is looking for a Digital Content Coordinator to work on an Auxiliary basis.
In this position you will be responsible for maintaining the City’s website and social media channels. Website maintenance responsibilities include writing, editing and producing individual web pages, web sections and updating the homepage on a daily basis. This work includes designing and building new web pages and web sections, creating online forms and surveys, and selecting and customizing tailored graphics and images. In addition, you will work with several City departments to assist in their outreach needs; you will update their web information, assist with their online requirements, and ensure that the website’s content is up to date and accurate. You will ensure staff provide information that is web and user friendly, and written and presented online in an easy-to-understand style.
You will support the City’s citizen apps as well as maintain and help guide staff in their use of the City’s online engagement software.
You will also update and maintain the City’s social media channels throughout the day proactively and reactively, in a creative, conversational and engaging manner, delivering City news and information, as well as City events and partner information. Pre-programming postings via Hootsuite is also required. Responding to social media inquiries in a timely and appropriate fashion is also a responsibility of this role. You will work closely with fellow Communications staff in the department, ensuring that all campaigns, engagement projects, promotions, important/urgent information are represented on the City’s website and social media channels.
You will have considerable related work experience in the area of web work, website design, front -end website management, basic back-end knowledge, social media, communications and writing, supplemented by courses in information technology or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A thorough understanding of the technologies and tools specific to the development of website, apps, third party software, and social media platforms, is required. The ability to conduct analytical assessments of website user practices is required as well as knowledge of industry best practices, trends and user expectations. You will also have demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across a variety of stakeholders. Considerable knowledge of strategic communications, a keen sense of design esthetics, and excellent written communications and conversational writing skills round out your technical skill set.
$33.60 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits (Pay Grade 22 – January 2019 rates)
