The City of Burnaby is recruiting auxiliary Pool Janitors to work at our Eileen Dailly facility. The Pool Janitor performs routine janitorial and minor pool, building and equipment maintenance work. The work involves cleaning offices, and public areas; vacuuming the pool; refilling dispensers and performing pool and building maintenance tasks in accordance with specific procedures and practices.
The ideal candidate will have facility related work experience in a janitorial or custodial role; possess some related work experience with the methods, materials and equipment used in janitorial care and maintenance of buildings and pools; be familiar with the general regulations and procedures governing facility pool operations; and have the ability to perform repetitive manual work as well as deal courteously with the public.
Qualifications required for Pool Janitors include up to high school completion supplemented by some experience in janitorial work and minor maintenance of buildings and equipment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Ideally candidates should highlight in their applications their own knowledge and experiences with janitorial and swimming pool maintenance. Building Service Worker and/or Pool Operator Level 1 & 2 certificates are considered assets for this role.
Hours and shifts are dependent on operational requirements and are scheduled by the department on an as needed basis. Hours of work are typically graveyard shifts or afternoon shifts: 10:30 PM until 6:30 AM or 3:30 PM until 11:30 PM Monday to Sunday. Currently our team is looking for individuals who can work a couple of shifts per week with the potential of 5 days a week depending on your availability and our own operational requirements.
