The Township of Langley is currently recruiting a regular part-time Recreation Leader to join our team of professionals in the Parks and Recreation Division; Recreation Programs and Services Department. We believe in building individuals and communities to be active and healthy for life.

Reporting to the Community Recreation Manager, you will be responsible in this unionized position for assisting a supervisor in planning, developing, and scheduling specific recreation, social and cultural programs, services and special events, directing the implementation of program activities, provide leadership and instruction, assess program and activity results, and recommend changes as necessary.  You will also be responsible for assigning and supervising the work of auxiliary staff, providing orientation and training, and participating in the selection and evaluation of staff.

Your education will include completion of a two-year program in Recreation at a recognized Community College and some related community recreation experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge of the recreational needs and interests of the area served, and sound knowledge of the principles, practices, and objectives of municipal recreation programs is necessary. Standard First Aid with CPR are required, BCRPA High Five and experience working in a community recreation centre are considered assets.

  • Emergency First Aid and CPR Certification
  • BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver’s license or equivalent driver’s license for where you reside. You must upload a current Driver’s Abstract (select the 5 years’ option if obtaining online) that has been obtained within 6 months of the closing date below with your application. To obtain a copy of your Driver’s Abstract, please contact ICBC directly or the driving authority where you reside. Copies or pictures of your driver’s license will not be accepted

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $26.36 -$30.98 per hour (5 steps, 2019 rates), plus benefits. The hours of work are 30 various regular part-time hours per week and non-standard hours and/or non-standard work week.

This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety).  The successful candidate(s) will be required to have a police information check as a condition of employment (Note - Not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment).
