The City of West Kelowna is a vibrant, growing city located on the west shores of beautiful Okanagan Lake. The City of West Kelowna’s Communications Department is seeking to fill a permanent, full time position of Public Engagement & Social Media Coordinator.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Communications Supervisor, the Public Engagement and Social Media Coordinator will create, implement and monitor detailed public engagement plans, build relationships with community partners, peers and project stakeholders, plan and administer engagement events, develop and implement social media messaging and responses for the City of West Kelowna and increase engagement on all platforms.  This position will develop graphic design and advertising materials as well as gather analyze and share information on engagement undertakings.  The incumbent will also advise City departments on best practices for public engagement, develop processes, tools and policies to support engagement activities in the community.   

The successful candidate will have experience in social media content management, be able to exercise discretion and confidentiality, possess excellent communication skills including public presentation experience as well as excellent relationship building, interpersonal and organizational skills.

Required qualifications:
  • Diploma from a recognized institution in Communications, Journalism and/or Marketing
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in a related position
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and graphic design software (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
  • Valid Class 5 B.C. Drivers License or equivalent
