The Planning & Development Department is looking for a temporary full-time Planning Assistant to join their team until approximately May 2020.
You will provide front line customer service and support to the public regarding zoning regulations, land use and related planning matters, application processing times and the Official Community Plan. You will also review, coordinate and respond to compliance letters or other request letters pertaining to related areas of the zoning regulations and coordinate pre-consultation and planning application meetings. In addition, you will review building permit applications, business licensing requirements and plans to ensure compliance with the zoning bylaw and other Council policies.
You will have a Diploma in Urban Planning plus courses in urban design, geography, civil engineering or a related discipline with related experience in municipal planning, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge of the practices, principles, techniques, methods and procedures applicable to municipal planning operations is also required. In addition, you will have strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) as well as excellent communication and customer service skills.
For temporary full-time positions of eight (8) months or longer, a City employee who is successful on the posting will have the right to revert to their former position.
$32.25 – $37.97 per hour
(Pay grade 21 – January 2019 rates)

The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.
