(Temporary Part Time Opportunity)

Position: A temporary part time Cashier Receptionist opportunity is available for up to 2 years in duration in the Ticket Centre at the Island Savings Centre, within the Community Services Department at the Cowichan Valley Regional District. Reporting to the Administration & Facility Booking Coordinator, the Cashier Receptionist provides reception duties including: meets and greets the public; answers and responds to telephone and in-person inquiries including providing routing information; and performs a variety of other tasks such as program registration, ticket sales, and merchandise sales.

Qualifications: Secondary school graduation plus cash / clerical / computer training, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required. One (1) year of related office experience, preferably in a customer service capacity or an equivalent combination of skills, education, and training is required. A valid First Aid Level I with CPR and a satisfactory criminal record check is required. Experience working with cash and balancing daily cash receipts is also required. The successful candidate is familiar with operating standard business equipment, including computers and a multi-lined telephone system and possesses proficient keyboarding skills and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; effectively establish and maintain working relationships with other staff, instructors, the general public, users and program participants; learn the assigned clerical tasks and adhere to a prescribed routine; learn a variety of software programs; and perform mathematical computations and tabulations accurately and efficiently within a scheduled time frame.

Hours of Work: Guaranteed minimum 17.5 hours of work per week. During busy times, this position may be required to work up to 35 hours per week to meet operational requirements. Shifts vary based on programs and events and will include weekdays, evenings and weekends. This position may be subject to a seasonal layoff during the months of June, July and August, where shifts may be available on a casual, on-call basis.
The expected start date for this position is mid-August 2019 during the seasonal layoff period. Training will take place during the seasonal layoff and casual, on-call shifts may be available as described above. Guaranteed hours of work will commence in September 2019.

Salary: This position is unionized (CUPE Local 358) with a salary ranging in three steps, $21.26 - $21.83 - $22.49 per hour (2019 rates).
