The Regional District of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Records Management Specialist in the Corporate Services department.

The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) is one of 27 regional districts in the Province of British Columbia. Regional Districts across the Province strive to ensure all provincial residence have an effective form of local government, while also representing municipal residents on regional issues. The RDN provides regional governance and services to the municipalities of Nanaimo, Lantzville, Parksville, and Qualicum Beach, as well as seven unincorporated Electoral Areas. Established in 1967, the RDN is British Columbia’s fifth most populous Regional District, of 27 throughout the province, and home to more than 155,000 people.

Reporting to the Manager of Administrative Services, Corporate Services Department, the Records Management Specialist is responsible for the Management of the Regional District of Nanaimo Records Management Program. The successful incumbent will ensure the records management program meets our legislative and business requirements by providing guidance and support to all Departments. Duties will include developing strategies and continuously improving recordkeeping practices across the Corporation; Develop, assess, plan, implement and evaluate opportunities to support our objectives to manage records in electronic format and; Delivering quality and effective communication competencies, efficient problem solving, attention to detail, and analysis in the scope of records management. 

Qualifications include a university degree in a related field, supplemented by specialized courses in records management and/or information technology, 5 years’ experience in administrating corporate records management programs, ideally within local government, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
