Community & Protective Services
The Town of Edson is seeking a motivated, engaged and forward-thinking professional to head up our Community & Protective Services department. At the Town of Edson, we truly believe that ‘good’ is the enemy of ‘great’; and we’re designing an organization with that principle at the front of our minds. We’re busy building the kind of organization for which we’d like to work, and you can be a critical part of that process.
Question: What does that even look like?
Answer: I’m so glad you asked!
Imagine working in an organization that says “open dialogue” and actually means it. Imagine working in the sort of environment where the phrase “can I ask a stupid question?” isn’t a stupid question at all. Imagine working where “there must be some way we can do this better” ALWAYS trumps “this is the way we’ve always done this”.
Make no mistake, the Town of Edson isn’t for everyone. You must be comfortable with discomfort, with asking and answering challenging questions, with rethinking processes, procedures, and even your own point of view, each and every week. You must have a healthy distrust for easy answers and a consistent bias for action.
Why? Because we want to work in a place where we can and will make an impact, where boredom and complacency are nowhere to be seen, and where the “daily grind” isn’t a grind at all, but fun, engaging and meaningful.
Have we achieved all of this? Nope, but we’re getting there, and we’re on the same page. This is what we want.
Now, imagine that this sort of organization is not only possible, but that it’s possible in conjunction with competitive wages, excellent benefits and fantastic work-life balance.
Oh, and did we mention the Multiplex – this multimillion-dollar, state-of-the-art recreational that will be the pride and joy of the community, from which we’ll be able to launch services and programs that will be the envy of neighbouring municipalities? Yeah, you get to play an integral part in making that happen.
Intrigued? Send us your resume – which details several years progressive leadership experience in a municipal or similar setting, with both experience and formal education in community services, protective services, municipal recreation or a related field – and attach a cover letter explaining how you can help us build this exciting and dynamic organization.
