Term Accountant

Join our accounting team.  We currently have a term Accountant role available within our Division!  As an experienced Accountant, you will prepare summaries of accounts, perform analysis and reporting, balance and reconcile statements, prepare journal entries, process payments on accounts, provide accurate and efficient financial functions and assist the public with municipal transactions. The Accountant initiates, implements, reviews, monitors, modifies and provides training for financial reporting and accounting systems.

Qualifications are:
  • Option 1:
    • Minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible accounting experience with a minimum of 2-years at the Accounting Technician level of experience or higher
    • Minimum of 8 CPA Prep Courses/Modules (5 in Accounting or Finance)
  • Option 2:
    • Minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
    • Minimum of 10 CPA Prep Courses/Modules (5 in Accounting or Finance) 
  • Responsibility/Accountability
  • People Management
  • Computer Literacy and Attention to Detail

This is a CUPE bargaining unit position that offers an hourly rate progressing from $31.17 to $35.95 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits, vacation, and statutory holidays.  Help Kelowna become the best mid-sized city in North America!
