We are currently seeking a Human Resources Manager to join our team.

Reporting to the District Principal/Senior Manager, Human Resources, the Human Resources Manager will be responsible for managing the recruitment and staffing processes including workforce planning, work design, recruitment strategies, selection and placement practices, and onboarding; advising and coaching leaders on enhancing individual and team effectiveness, employee engagement, and addressing workplace, performance, and interpersonal issues; Applying and interpreting collective agreements, legislation, policies and procedures; Investigating, responding to, and resolving grievances; working with the Senior Manager, OHS to implement and maintain disability management processes and practices and liaising with internal and external stakeholders on claims management.

  • Degree in a relevant discipline such as Psychology, Business Administration or Human Resources and 5 years’ recent, related experience in a unionized environment. A professional designation (CPHR) is an asset; an equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered  
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others in a consultative and collaborative manner
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate and build trust with a variety of stakeholders, facilitate decisions and resolve conflict to sustain partnerships
  • Effective organizational, investigative, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated and self-organized with the ability to operate autonomously and as part of a team
  • Ability to work under pressure in a high-volume work environment and manage competing priorities and demands
  • Ability to diagnose, recommend and resolve complex employee/labour relations and organizational issues
  • Extensive knowledge and proficiency in multiple HR disciplines – talent acquisition, total rewards, learning and development, employee engagement, performance management, labour relations
