Development Project Engineer

Reporting to the Development Services Manager within the Engineering Department, this position is responsible for the oversight of land development project processing.  The Development Project Engineer ensures a consistent application of City Standards, Engineering Policies and Practices, applicable Bylaws and good Engineering practice, and is involved in the development and clarification of policies to ensure consistency in application.


  • Troubleshoot and expedite projects by resolving bottlenecks.
  • Monitor project schedules to ensure deliverables are met.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with developers, land development consultants/contractors and residents.
  • Attend Council meetings to represent Engineering with respect to land development applications. 
  • Coordinate with internal divisions and departments, and liaison with external agencies.
  • Other responsibilities include:  review servicing design drawings, servicing agreements, legal documents, and financial agreements; and monitor the administrative processing of construction projects.


  • Hold a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Engineering Licensee (Eng.L.) designation in Civil Engineering, in good standing with EGBC or outside of province equivalent.
  • Have a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible and related work experience or have an equivalent combination of education and technical experience. Land development experience is an asset.
  • You are a results-oriented team player with strong interpersonal and leadership skills with focus on delivering excellent customer service.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time sensitive tasks with demanding timelines.
